Misbah returns, no captain named
Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan middle-order batsman, returns to the national squad for the upcoming ODI and Twenty20 series against South Africa in the UAE. Misbah last played an ODI for Pakistan in September 2009 and his latest international appearance was in the Caribbean during the World Twenty20 this year. Wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal not been included, while former coach Intikhab Alam replaces Yawar Saeed, who resigned in the aftermath of the spot-fixing controversy, as the team manager. Shoaib Malik, too, has not been named in the squad. Pakistan, however, have not yet named a captain for series, though Shahid Afridi, who led them in the limited-overs games in England, has been picked in the squad.
